Software for Waste Handlers
What Kind of Printer Should I Use?
|
Laser Printers
|
PROS: Good for high volume, high quality printing. Allows you to use the
same printer for correspondence and billing.
CONS: Supplies can be a little more expensive than other options because an 8-1/2" x
11" format works best with laser printers. In addition, laser printers cannot print multiple-part
forms.
|
|
Ink Jet Printers
|
PROS: Good for high quality printing. Allows you to use the same printer for
correspondence and billing. Also, most ink jet printers can print in color. (Trash Flow
forms are all designed to print in black and white.) Ink jet printers handle different-sized forms better than
laser printers.
CONS: Ink jet printers are slow, and expensive to operate. Inks are water soluble, which can be
a problem when mailing. Ink jets also cannot print multiple-part forms.

|
Dot Matrix Printers
|
PROS: Inexpensive to operate. Can print multiple part forms. Very durable. Most business-quality
dot matrix printers will last practically forever.
CONS: Noisy. The print quality of dot matrix printers is not very good. Dot matrix printers are
not generally used for correspondence.
